Correct but, for most young people who don't remember internet before the web, that is mostly all it is... well, that is until apps surplanted the websites.

Want to cripple 2 whole generations? Take away their GUI's. Only GenX and the Boomers would still be able to function. :)

Yep and, for some of us, it might take some memory rattling. :D

Heck, even as someone who used MS-DOS back in the 90's, as I use it
    extensively for the
first time in... thirty years... I'm kinda lost and needing to reference
    a cheat sheet
    regularly.

And I use *bash* as a daily part of my job. lol on me XD

I have lately caught myself trying to execute linux cli commands at the DOS prompt, and DOS commands at the bash prompt. Luckily, so far, I have not stumbled across one that is super-destructive when accidentally entered at the wrong prompt. ;)

I used to write alot of batch files, I had to relearn things I used to know well.

I still have Running MS-DOS and Supercharging MS-DOS by Van Wolverton
in my bookcase - they were great at learning the ins and outs of DOS
    and batch programming.

cat/dir/ls Can't we just settle on a single command that will work for all OS's?

I used to create aliases for ls under DOS and dir under *nix. Worked
around the industry's lack of vision.

I've seen people post about doing the following in Linux:
    alias fucking='sudo'

    I have that set up.

    Speaking of that...https://github.com/nvbn/thefuck

It doesn't work with newer versions of python :(

It's integrated as part of my portable bash environment. https://github.com/daitengu/slaane.sh
