Hello everyone!
Consider this both a test message and an introduction. Got a drive-by email from Morningstarr about this network and my board is part of a shared communications platform I honestly had no reason not to give it a go.
Had to re-acquaint myself on a few particularities of QWK networking, but after try 3 I think all messages have been sorted in the correct areas, and I can only imagine messages will go to the correct locations on HOBBYSPC, thus meaning there is another node operational in this network.
I'm actually intending to eventually set up a network of my own, which was an old idea a few years ago and, since I've decided to give SBBS a go again, I'd want to try if anything to spite some of the people on Dove-Net who, for as much as they seem to love the BBS scene, want to also be buzzkills to anyone else trying to expand it in some way. Such is life, I guess.
Anyway, would type more but I want to get this test out and I'm currently a little under the weather so some rest upcoming for me. Or something like that.
~Chris

I setup this qwk network, because of the rude people on Dove-net. I am so glad you decided to join us sir! The people on Dove-net who love it so much, are actively killing the scene. They troll, flame, and run people away.

I got to thinking, why complain about the bbs scene slowly dying, when they are the main reason it's going down hill? I have several of them on the twit list. They been jerks for years dude...Let's just say, you forget to put a comma on the word didn't. Maybe, you are not big on grammar. Those guys on Dove-net, won't answer your question. Instead, they start bashing your grammar, and get other people to chime in. Next thing you know, another board shuts down...I have seen it happen. That's why there is no gate-keepers here. I will not tolerate the behavior, those guys exude on Dove-net here. Aside from that no religious posts, politics, or lgbtq posts are allowed here. Those fights seem to cause fights, especially with the far left.

Yeah, they are... quite the elitists. Honestly after the way things had gone in early 2024 I was very hesitatnt last month on setting up another Synchronet BBS (Already run a Citadel based one on the side, which is of course a ghost town because I never promote it) but the software is damn good, in spite of some issues I may have had at points with digital man and, more importantly, those who really latch onto him and SBBS and thus DOVE-Net.
Honestly I'm surprised no one gave me shit the moment I showed up again on DOVE-Net, but eh, I'll take it as a win that I didn't have to deal with anyones bullshit.
Well, save for MRO bring MRO, but it would appear my last reply to him shut him up. I'll also take that as a strong win, fighting fire with fire, or in his case insults with insults he apparently couldn't come up with a response to.
It's sad, how overall good SBBS is, but how terrible much of the core group surrounding it is. Not to say digital man is an asshole -- most of the time he isn't or his attitude is an understandable reaction, but sometimes explanations and wiki entries are not written in ways that work for everyone. Getting mad at someone because they process information differently, or because you yourself couldn't parse the obvious question in a support request, is just a uncaring asshole thing to do, especialy, again, when people are wanting to use the very software that is, in a sense, your lifes work.
Just makes no sense to me.... but eh... old people set in their ways and all that.

Mro, duece, and several are huge pricks. Even Digital Man can be a prick. The documentation sucks balls, dude! I been toying with synchronet for years. I Ran several decent boards back in the day, got flamed about them too. My last bbs was pretty good too, but I closed it down, because I couldn't get any support. I can mod with baja, but not Java Script. I wonder why they chose Java Script over something like Python. I can look at Python and see what's going on. When I look at a Java Script file, my brain explodes. I have spent a lot of time, trying to learn it. I watch videos, read, use a.i and still am not getting it. Heaven forbid you ask a question, though. One day I was looking at the wiki, trying to figure out how to slow the scroll of an ansi file. None of the @ codes seemed like the right fit. So I went to the Synchronet irc, and asked. Duece said, ohh so now we are using this irc channel as a wiki? I was like dude! What the FUC$?! I am looking at it right now...He finally answered me, and guess what.....?????? His answer was wrong. He does most the programming for synchronet now a days. It's like the guys on Dove-Net like to suck Digital Man's brown eye, while he farts.... It's been the same dudes on there for the past 30 years, and if anyone new shows up they run them off. Then complain about the bbs scene dying. Sometimes, I go to the chat menu, and view the inter-bbs instant messenger. It shows who is all using synchronet boards, that are on the synchronet bbs list. It's sad dude...Not many people are logging on their boards, usually it's just a sysop sitting idle at the main menu, for days on end. They wonder why nobody comes by.... I bet I know why lol. I'm sure you do too.
